Inspiration for Pine Ridge's row for 2018 came from one of our team's favourite songs. We're really excited about the way this one turned out and we called on skills from the whole team to pull it off. Click Below to Listen. [ player by wavesurfer-js ]
We pulled the audio file into the wonderful Open Source Audacity software and zoomed into the part that goes "Oh, oh oh". Here's the section of waveform that began the design of our "Sew Musical" row.
And behold the finished result....
Stop by Pine Ridge Knit & Sew today to pickup your pattern and row kit. If you haven't been in here lately, you gotta get in here and sew!

Just finished uploading this one to the wall next to the main entrance of our house. That's exactly the kind of welcoming message we want to send out.
Commerating Canada's 150th birthday with 13 Mystery Quilt Blocks, including the Homecoming Kit by Shania Sunga, Fabrics by Cantik Batiks, Composition by Laura Tedball, and all kinds of help from the whole team down at Pine Ridge Knit & Sew.
And it just sort of fit perfectly on that wall. Hhmm...
Blocks are: Top Row - Saskatchewan, Homecoming, New Brunswick.
Second Row: Prince Edward Island, Quebec, Nova Scotia, Newfoundland.
Third Row: Ontario, Yukon, British Columbia.
Bottom: Nunavut, Alberta, Manitoba, Northwest Territories.
Thank You Laura, for creating such beautiful art. I'll be sure to get Justin to sign it next time he's in town ;)
Stop by Pine Ridge anytime from now until September to get your 2017 On the Go Row, and don't forget that new this year is Row by Row Junior which is a great way to get the children in your life started with sewing.
Sometimes you just have to laugh at yourself. In preparing for the Pine Ridge Oh Canada Wallhanging, I'd made a point of choosing a fabric with a tight design so the pattern would be clearly visible on the smaller pieces. Simple right? But last night, after quickly cutting the first piece, I took one look at it and...
- wait for it -
Ta Da! No Dots!
Laughed out loud, traced it again, got a little fussy this time, and... way better.
"Row by Row On The Go! is 2017's theme and we'll be participating here at Pine Ridge Knit & Sew. We're super excited about Row by Row Experience's brand new program, Row by Row Junior, too! It's designed for kids ages 6 to 14. They travel along with an adult. They collect free row patterns designed just for them to make and they can learn to sew at home with family help and support from www.rowbyrowexperience.com.
Row by Row Junior follows the same rules and time schedule as adult Row by Row Experience, June 21 through Labor Day. Kids need to be in the shop to get the free pattern handout, but anyone can buy a kit. Grandmothers and travelling family can bring them home as gifts or souvenirs.
Row by Row Junior designed the five different row patterns so you can be sure they are kid-friendly. Make it an adventure traveling to collect all five and seeing how different shops make up their row.
The Pine Ridge Knit & Sew Row is "High Tops". Our sample was done by 10 year old Chloe Workman that we'll have on display at our Kick-Off event on June 21st at 10:00 AM.
Also note that the City of Quinte West is graciously donating a commemorative "City of Quinte" pin for every Row by Row kit that Pine Ridge creates. We want to send a great big THANK YOU to the city for continuing to support Quinte's Favourite Sewing Centre.
We'll be awarding "I Made This!" ribbons to the first five kids who return with something made using a Row by Row Junior pattern. Any sewing effort will be celebrated, not just quilting. Find Row by Row Junior's free online activities, kids' journal pages, support for learning to sew at home, and more at www.rowbyrowexperience.com this summer.
"We want our kids to learn how to sew and carry on this craft that's so dear to us," explains Janet Lutz, Row by Row's founder. "Travelling to new places, collecting something just for them, visiting Grandma, summer vacation... this is all part of the wonder and excitement of Row by Row Experience. Please join us."
Twenty fabric collections later, Tula Pink shares with you the story of Slow & Steady. A story about following your heart and building your passion to perfection. A story about the magical thing that drives all of us, with blind faith to continue, to earn our place every time -- to build to our creativity, slow and steady, one foot in front of the other.
You can find her story in the modern and bright colours of this Fandango quilt featuring FreeSpirit Slow & Steady fabrics.
Inspired by the provocative Spanish dance, Fandango whirls around the well-loved fable about the tortouise and the hare. Here you find a race day vision of colourful ladies in fanciful hats escorted by dapper gentlemen, fanning themselves in the sultry heat.
This fabulous take on a traditional fan block, creates motion with colours circling, moving and dancing, slowly toward the finish, one stitch at a time.
